Relocation

Business Relocation

Whatever the reason for relocating a business, it will always cause disruption and it will invariable involve substantial capital expenditure, so keeping both under control is important.

Timing the move to coincide with quieter periods, such as seasonal variations in orders, or to fit in with holidays can lessen the impact on the business.

You choice of location may be influenced by any incentives being offered in certain locations and also whether existing staff can travel to the new site. If some people can’t or won’t travel, you will need to think about whether there is a good supply of labour with the skills your business needs?

Any relocation or expansion needs to be well managed but before any changes take place, a great deal of thought and planning needs to be done. Gerron have the experience and resources to help you consider the following important issues.

  • Feasibility (link to FS)
  • Location (Local Authority land and property searches)
  • Infrastructure (local support and supply networks)
  • Logistics (Accessibility)
  • Economic conditions (local pay rates, incentives etc)
  • Staff and Skills (What skills does your business need, availability, existing staff, transport)
  • Budgets (Cost of the move, compensation for additional travel, redundancy costs, new plant and machinery)
